I have a 3 month old Cairn pup who is getting bored with Beta Puppy food.(Which he was given by the breeder so I thought I would continue with something he was used to for a while at least) He is leaving more and more of it every day.
Are there any Cairn owners out there who have any scrummy ideas you can pass on to me for feeding young Hamish.
Many thanks,
A

A,
I feed my Cairn Naturediet, which is probably the scrummiest and one of the best commercial foods you can feed. You can buy it at Pets at Home, or, you can order it directly from Naturediet (they have a web site, if you need the information.) If you want to try it, mix a little with his Beta and then over a week increase it until the meal is all Naturediet. Naturediet is a moist food, which most dogs prefer over dry.
However, if your puppy is leaving food I would cut down the number of meals you are giving him now. If he's still on three meals a day, cut down to two meals. (Which you would usually do at 4 or 5 months old for a Cairn, but puppies often tell you when it's time.) When you would normally feed him the extra meal you can give him a small dog biscuit instead to tide him over if you would like.

Thanks for that Stacey and Tohme, I've just contacted Naturediet and they are sending me a pack with all the flavours they produce for £8.80 inc pp.
I've just taken 'Hurricane' Hamish out for his first walk after his jabs and obviously his appetite has improved but I do look forward to feeding him with a feed that sounds so well thought out. It's also nice to deal with a small company.
Just hope H likes his new grub.........

Glad they are sending you a mixed case, I wondered if they did that - I think I'll start ordering from them direct as well. The packs are £.59 each at Pets at Home.
By the way, they do make a puppy version. To be honest, however, it's not really necessary.

Yes they do a puppy version and a 'lite' version too.
I'm not sure how much of the £8.80 is postage. There is always a chance the p&p cost could negate the cheaper price. I'll let you Know.....
Thanks for your help with this and also the info on neutering.

Nature diet is probably the best wet food in the UK IMHO and Burns the best dry. Both contain only meat, rice and veg and so contain fewer additives than most.
