Topic Dog Boards / Visitors Questions / Introducing a puppy

Before deciding to get a new puppy (I have two 5 year old dogs already) I read everything I could find on how to introduce them & I felt confident I knew the best way (introduce the dogs to the pup 1 at a time on neutral ground) but now I have read that the pup should be allowed to settle in the house without the dogs present and they should be introduced later. Help please I'm confused! Thanks in advance.

We bring the pup in and sit with it on my lap and then let the others in to see it and me, if I can I do it in the garden but if not in the day room. There is usually a lot of sniffing but because I am holding it they except the situation and up to now I have never had a problem. I watch when I put the pup down but try not to interfere to much, they seem to deal with a pup under 12 weeks best the only one I had older than that was worried about the attentions
