hi
my dobe girl was the runt of the litter and always a bit small but recently she is eating everything but losing weight
it looks so bad with her ribs clearly visib;e i am embarrased to take her out
the vet put her on a specialist diet which hasnt put weight on and has done all blood tests and turned nothing up
has anyone got any ideas what to do
she weighs 21kg and is 23 inches at the shoulder and 3 years ols
has been wormed
is this normal and she is just small and healthy as my vet has said or shouls i worry
by the way she is 3 years ols
thanks louise
Hi Louise
The smallest in the litter are not always the smallest as adults so I wonder if yours has a growth problem?
If she is otherwise fit and healthy I would not worry too much about her height, if she is losing weight that is another thing. Is she having more exercise or got more fidigety, has she been checked for an over-active thyroid?
Other than this I don't have any ideas at the moment

hi
you could be onto something as she is very hyper up to my older dobe boy who is very laid back
under the advice from the vet we have restricted her excercise and she now thinks it is her duty to run up and down stairs all day and curl up on my lap only after 3hrs of this
we have tried crating her but she mopes and bites herself
i will take her to the vet in the morning to check if they tested for thyroid probs
many thanks louise
Hi Louise
The full thyroid panel is pricey and only done in the USA - for under active thyroid anyway and I assume overactive would be done with Dr Dodds as well.
If you would be willing to share health (when cause known) and pedigree information on your girl I would much appreciate it.
