i have been reading someones elses troubles in finding a dalmatian, which i can understand however i am now confused in one of the anwsers as i have found a registered puppy but it has not had a haering test as the breeder sayes it was too far for her to go and that unless you are going to breed from the puppy(which was what i hoped for in time) there is no need to have it tested. is this correct or should i not get this puppy.
please help!

It is absolutely vital that dalmatian puppies should be BAER hearing tested before sale. There is no other way of determining whether they are bilateral or unilateral (and sometimes even totally deaf). There are very few places that are too far from any testing centre (many breeders take their litters over 50 miles to be tested), so I would avoid any breeder that doesn't test.
The hearing test is important to prove that the puppy can hear in at least one ear if it's going to be a pet dog. It needs hearing in both ears if it will be used for breeding. As you can imagine, a deaf dog is very difficult and extremely time consuming to train.

Just try calling a deaf dog!
Sorry but if the breeder cannot do it properly then they should not be breeding. I know that sounds harsh but that in a nutshell is the long and the short of it.
