Hi All
I have started giving my westie Hamish the pedigree denta-stix's that are advertised for helping to cleaning dogs teeth, he is having 1 of them each day and loves them. I have tried to clean his teeth with dog toothpaste that i got from my vets but have not found this to be very good as he thinks you are playing with him and bites the toothbrush, my vet said that these are very good but another dog owner that i was talking to said that they are very high in sugar and that they will rot dogs teeth. Has anybody got any details on these as i would like some feedback from other dog owners that may have been using them for longer than me to see whether they have had any luck in using these in helping them to clean his teeth.
Thanks
Helen and Hamish

We have had a few free samples of the denta-stix. I can't see how they can clean the dogs teeth very much as my two devour them in a few seconds flat :D A large marrow bone is the best for cleaning my dogs' teeth :)

Gus used to have these when he was younger but I stopped giving him them as when he bit a piece off once it stuck to the roof of his mouth and I could move it .
He started panicking and trying to remove it and i was petrified he was going to choke so I have never given them since :(

All the commercial products like these and Rasks etc are made from the same stuff that CAUSES plaque! If you do not want to give your dog a raw bone once a week the best thing to try is Fragaria available from Dorwest Herbs
http://www.dorwest.com/ which you just give and it dissolves plaque and tartar in most dogs.

i started giving lily logic oral gel 1 month ago after seeing it reccommended on here, she's only 7 1/2 months old but had already started getting plaque - she too just chomped on a toothbrush if u put it in her mouth. her teeth are now immaculate, and that was just with her licking the gel off my finger, i wasn't even rubbing it on. she adores it and will devour it in half a second.

I'm using Logic for my Cairn as well - and it does seem to work.
I think Rasks are a waste of money, plus the ingredient list makes me cringe.

Where do you get logic oral gel from?
Thanks

I got the Logic from my vet, it was convenient. Amount you use depends on the size of the dog too, I only need 1 cm per day for my Cairn. A tube of it will last a long, long time.
