I am interested in purchasing a Siberian Husky for a pet...I need to know what and what not to feed the dog as well as the climate requirements.

Unless you live in an extreme climate the dog will sort it's coat to suit the climate, will need somewhere in the shade to rest in hot weather and if it is a surface you can hose down when it is very hot so much the better. Feeding requirements are the same as any dog, the diet would change if you are thinking of racing and I am not in a position to advice on that.

Other things you need to take into account are a good and high fence and remember that huskies are fond of chasing small furies.

According to Lowell Ackermann in "Canine Nutrition" huskies may require higer zinc levels than others and be particularly susceptible to soya intolerance.  I would be interested to know if sibe owners have found this to be the case.

Yes & probably Tohme :-)

Lots of cases of ZRD, nearly always dietry in effect.

Not sure specificially on soya intolerence, but digestive problems (if you are unlucky) are a major pain :-(

Guest...Sibes do well on most diets, just beware over feeding, that is usually what starts problems ;-)
