- By sandrah Date 07.03.04 21:05 UTC
I agree, nice dog but didn't have that X factor.
- By hippychick [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:06 UTC
anyone know what the comotion was about and the booing.
Carol
- By Carla Date 07.03.04 21:07 UTC
probably animal rights....
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:08 UTC
There was a protest going on, but (for once) the cameramen were very good and ignored it, so whoever was behind it got no publicity.
:)

Hi

Just got back from watching the BIS and the booing was for the Iams
protesters
they jumped the barrier and invaded the ring..........though how 3 can be an
invasion i dont know.
They rushed them off and then a single woman came out and just sort of stood
there :-$.
- By Carla Date 07.03.04 21:07 UTC
neither did the owner IMO ;)
- By luvly [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:06 UTC
i loved the english setter in the gundogs round i thought it should have gone threw , but the whippet was so nice :) id have gone with  judge with the scotty too , then the tibetan terrier
- By liverdottie [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:10 UTC
Aww, i'm glad that the whippet won, but both mine and my mums preditions were wrong, the bichon and the tibetan terrier!!
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:07 UTC
I thought it would be between the Schnauzer and the Tibetan Terrier.
:)
- By ice_queen Date 07.03.04 21:07 UTC
WOW well wasn't it a stunner!!!

didn't think much for the scottie but thats how it works! absoluty LOVED the TT!!!

Owell crufts is over for another year!!!!!!

My bet was the Schnauzer with the Whippet reserve. I did not rate the Scottish at all, thought it a bit stuffy in the neck but of course it's not my breed so the finer points elude me.

Best wishes, John
- By jeanniedean [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:16 UTC
I went for the Bichon & TT

Jean
- By peanuts [gb] Date 07.03.04 21:55 UTC
Well whoever she chose she would not please everyone.
Good luck to the little whippet.
Must admit i thought it would be the Bichon or schnauzer
But there you are that's showing for you.
Not all winners are predicted before the result.

Peanuts :)

I thought the whippet was absolutly gorgeous and for the first time my choice won. My second choice was the tibetian spaniel. I didnt like the scottie but then I dont like them anyway.
- By NewNewfontheblk [gb] Date 07.03.04 23:06 UTC
And words still escape me as to why the Newf didnt get through on Saturday!!

- By dog-madness [gb] Date 08.03.04 10:54 UTC
i know! that newf was stunning! :D
- By lel [gb] Date 08.03.04 11:04 UTC
Must admit that for once I am pleased about the winner :)
Might not have had the "x" factor but I am sick of seeing balls of fluff winning ......
lots of beautiful breeds there over the last four days so I am actually glad that out of that final line up a dog that doesnt need hours of grooming and prettyfying won :)

although it annoys me that a staffy is never likely to win a show such as Crufts - even a dog such as casanova with 29 CCs and the top Staffy ever
- By Carla Date 08.03.04 11:09 UTC
none of my favourites ever make it into the final line up - dallies nor danes - they always seem to go for balls of fluff! a refreshing change this year to see a nice dog - i just fel it fell a bit flat at the end :(
- By naomi [gb] Date 08.03.04 13:41 UTC
I thought the whippet bitch was lovely could never own one myself, not really my kinda breed.  My hubby said she looked ill and under nourished.

What was the name of the staffy who won the BoB?  I missed it but I caught a glimps of him at the end.  What an absolute stunner.  The Newf was gorgeous too and the Old English was really fluffy looking.  Good on him though for winning his group and at 21? months of age.

I am determined to go to crufts one day come hell or high water.  My hubby won't let me go because i'll spend too much money on my dogs.

Well done to everyone who took part and good luck for next year!!
- By stanlib [gb] Date 08.03.04 14:03 UTC
Hi Naomi
the staffy was  Ch Valglo casanova at crossguns
- By britney1000 Date 09.03.04 01:42 UTC
Right up to the final time she moved them I though the schnauzer then the Bichon or the TT,but when she walk them straight across I said to my husband I can see the whippet getting this, do not know why? just struck me, did not do it for me,but I think that she is a good judge so it must have something, good luck to the whippet
- By labmad [gb] Date 09.03.04 12:44 UTC
Nah I was disappointed that the whippet won, the lab should have won! afterall he did give the Judge a kiss so that should have swung it! ha ha typical lab!
- By Rozzer [gb] Date 09.03.04 18:48 UTC
I liked the schnauzer :) - Although I'm not a great whippet fan, and I agree that it seemed to be lacking an X-factor...I was fascinated by its face, in particular those eyes!  They were gorgeous, like a reddy/brown colour...lovely big eyes.

I thought that the whippet was just perfect, the face, eyes, gaze, the gait....just everything right for the breed type. I am so pleased it won. ( although i had a soft spot for the tibetan terrier, cos the owner also owns the sire of my affie). :)
- By jessthepest [gb] Date 09.03.04 19:54 UTC
I'm going to try and be as calm and diplomatic here as the Lab fans were on the other thread about all you anti-scottie people!! ;-)
- By gsd mad [gb] Date 09.03.04 20:53 UTC
Still can't see why the gsd didn't go through in the pastoral. It was a really nice bitch. None of the breeds were my type of dog but the schnuazer the tt the lab and whippet did it for me.Pleased the whippet won although I wasn't very impressed with the scottie but don't really like the breed anyway.Sorry to all you scottie people out there!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- By Moonmaiden Date 09.03.04 21:01 UTC
If the GSD handler had done a better job the judge may have been able to access her. not my type at all & I did think she had a very weak atypical head. The handling was well terrible & that cheese wire choker behind her ears was cruel
