Hi everyone

Have any of your any experience with a brand called Pro Pac Dog Premium Dog Food? Its an american brand.

I'm currently feeding Hills Natures Best, have fed Eukanuba, but that gave her gas.

I was given a great deal on this Pro Pac dog food, and would like to know your opinion. What is best, Hills or Pro Pac?

And how good/bad is it compared to the brands I can't buy: Burns, Arden Grange or Naturediet (isn't that the name?)

Oh and by the way, I've been told, that a lab doesn't need large breed food, do you agree? I live on the 3. floor witout an elevator, so Luna has to walk on stairs up and down 3-4 times a day!

Thanks

Jeanette

Chicken Meal, Pearled Barley, Oatmeal, Potato Flour, Ground Brown Rice, Menhaden Fish Meal, Brewers Rice, Millet, Quinoa, Amaranth, Ground Whole Flaxseed, Canola Oil (preserved with mixed tocopherols, a natural source of Vitamin E), Natural Flavoring, Menhaden Fish Oil, Lecithin, Yeast Culture, Dried Kelp, Alfalfa Leaf, Dried Blueberries, Dried Apples, Dried Carrots, Dried Peas, Dried Parsley, Dried Garlic, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Dried Chicory Root, Beta-Carotene, Potassium Chloride, Choline Chloride, Salt, Vitamin E Supplement, Taurine, L-Lysine, DL-Methionine, Lactobacillus Acidophilus, Lactobacillus Casei, Bifidobacterium Bifidum, Glucosamine Hydrochloride, Chondroitin Sulfate, Calcium Carbonate, Zinc Oxide, Magnesium Proteinate, Copper Sulfate, Manganous Oxide, Niacin, D-Calcium Pantothenic Acid, Vitamin A Supplement, L-Carnitine, Vitamin B12 Supplement, Ascorbic Acid, Ferrous Sulfate, Menadione Sodium Bisulfite Complex (source of Vitamin K Activity), Biotin, Riboflavin (Vitamin B2), Thiamine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B1), Calcium Iodate, Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), Vitamin D3 Supplement, Folic Acid, Manganese Proteinate, Iron Proteinate, Zinc Proteinate, Copper Proteinate.

Not sure what particular type you are feeding, the above is their "holistic" recipe.

It is very cereal heavy - barley, oatmeal, potato flour, brown rice, brewers rice, millet, quinoa, flaxseed
The only complete protein it contains is chicken and fish meal.
It contains yeast culture
It contains salt

I cannot tell you what is best out of the two for your dog.

Hi Tohme

If I remember corrrectly, then cereal isn't a good thing, right?

God I'm so confused. I haven't startet using it yet, cause I still have some of the other food.

Its called Chunk, and contains chickenmeal.

Well, perhaps I should see if I could sell it, and just keep using what I'm using!

Thanks, and sorry for keep ranting (spelling?) on and on.

All commercial dogs foods have cereal as the main bulk of the ingredients apart from those that contain potato.  Personally I believe less is more (with regard to ingredients) and if you DID have a problem with this food where would you start in terms of knowing which ingredient was the trigger?

I agree that choosing a good dog food especially when your choices are limted is not easy or simple.  If your dog is doing well on what you are giving then I would stay with that.

Hi Tohme

Yes thats also what I'm trying to convince my mother. I think I'll try and sell these 20 kg of Pro Pac, since its a bit much to have around for treats during training sessions :-)

Thanks again.
