We are thinking of adding a dog to our family and have read british bulldogs are ideal with children. Our 2 sons both have autism therefore the dog would need to be robust.Could anyone please advise us to the bulldogs suitability.Thanks.......

Hi, i have Bulldogs! now you are right they are or can be wonderful with children/humans they love being made a fuss of, but i would really have to say that they would not be suitable for a very over the top child as Bulldogs are high maintenance breeds and do not like any kind of stress. And very active children would be stressful for a Bulldog, sorry but i think some thing like a terrier would be better or a bigger breed, some one else might come and give there opinion, lots of luck in your search. :-)

well corso girl, you are right about that! IMO bulldogs are just as good a choice as any, they are robust dogs and have lots of fun, friendship and love to offer children as well as adults. you suggest a terrier breed, IMO I think a terrier could be (and i hasten to add this is only a possibility, not a dead cert) prone to snap at children possibly? then again, there is good and bad in all breeds, if the person truly wants a bulldog, I wish them success, they are a noble and fantastic breed.
