Now, if I only had a horse (and was a better rider!) this would interest me greatly!

When an old aunt and uncle of mine were alive they used to have a dalmation and as they lived at the end of a very long quiet road they used to let him out at the other end for him to run home alongside the car.   My Aunty would proudly say  "this is what they were bred for you know!" :D

I wonder if it would be hard to train them:confused:  Or even dangerous training them?  Nice to see them though :-)

It shouldn't be too hard to train them. Some of mine go very nicely with a bike, and many years ago I was visiting a game fair thing at Sandhurst, with my first dal. They were having a carriage road trials around the 'estate' and there were all sorts of horse-drawn vehicles, from dogcarts to practically a stagecoach! I was fascinated to see that one of them had a dal trotting behind. I had to run quite fast to catch up when I discovered it was my dog! The instinct was still there ...

Slightly off topic but there is a  man who rides in Sutton Park (B'ham) who has two Dalmations that run/trot alongside him.
Beautiful site - I watch him whenever I see him - until he's out of sight. :)

There was a man with a horse and carriage and two adult Dalmatians doing a demonstration at the Birmingham Champ. show a couple of years back, when it was held at the NEC.  He also had a pup in training........in typical Dalmatian fashion, the pup kept stopping to eat the horse pooh   It was funny though :)
