What a day, took Jade to the fields for a long walk with hardy(my partners dads goldie), went out of the back gate with them and because Jade was soooooo Hyper coz I'd taken the other 2 dogs first I forgot to take the ball on a rope.Because I hadnt taken the ball she was trying to grab hold of everything like snow, stones etc. then she decided to jump up at a tree and grab a branch which pierced the back of her mouth and left a gaping hole pouring with blood. So I turned back and went round my partners parents house to take Hardy back and so that Anne could hold Jade while I had a proper look and I decided she needed to go to the vets. So I went round home and let the dogs out straight away forgetting that I hadnt closed the back gate. I made a few phone calls one to the vet and then went out about 20 mins later to let the dogs back in but they werent there so of course I started to panic and cry.I went out of the back gate and asked a man if he had seen 3 gsds must've sounded sooo funny, he said no so I started running round screaming for them and no response so I screamed again and here comes 3 gsds bounding over the road panting like hell with what looked like huge smiles on their faces they'd been over in the park playing the whole time. It was so lucky that they stuck together and staying close to home coz they could've been knocked over or anything  I am still quite shaken, but Jade is now at the vets under anasthetic getting the stick out of her mouth and Lady is limping on one of her front legs , they had a great time but it will certainly never happen again  I'll be a lot more careful in future coz I might not be so lucky next time

Oh my god what a day you have had!  First of all I hope Jade is ok and that the GSD's limp is ok.

these things just happen sometime and are not intentional by any means.  Look on the bright side that all the dogs are safe and sound as it could have been a lot worse.  I am sure Jade will be ok.

I bet the GSD's will sleep tonight!

Don't worry.

Kassie (GSD) did that once with a stick- wasn't nearlly as bad as yours - just a nip but it bled like hell!  Hope Jade's okay- and the others ought to be tired enough to sleep while you worry about Jade.  Let us know how Jade is when you get her back:-)

OMG you need a cuppa and sit down now

My worst dog "lost" moment was one i didn't hear about til years later - my dad who looked after my 2 BSds some years ago took them out in his transit van without shutting the door properly. He was driving a long a (luckily quiet) avenue when he heard a noise and in the rear view mirror saw them running along the road behind the van, having fallen out of the back

He stopped and caught them, and they were safe - but he didn't dare tell me for several years.... !!! Luckily by the time he did tell me, we were able to laugh about it!!!

Hi guys Jade came back from the vets and is fine just a bit sleepy they said that there was no stick left in her mouth but they also said that the hole was about 2 inches deep no wonder she screamed so badly and it was quite literally a scream. I feel really awful cos I have to put them in kennels tommorrow to go to crufts but I'm sure she''ll be fine, at least she's eating although it is a lot slower than the usual. The vet sent her home with 3 weeks worth of anti-boitics and I'll say it again it's  a good job they're insured!!!!!!!!!!
Lady's limp is starting to get better now its not quite as bad, my mam is looking after her as she has Lady's sister so I'll just tell her to give her gentle on lead exercise.
Poor dogs I feel so guilty but I suppose they did have a great time they were probably going down the slide and everything. Checked anna over aswell and I don't know what they've been doing but she had a lot of rose bush thorns stuck in her head. I'm able to laugh about it now but at the time my heart was in my mouth all could think was that I wont even have a dog to take to the vets now and that man most of thought I was daft. I mean how can you possibly lose 3 huge german shepherds. I'm sooo grateful that they stuck together and that they only went to the park. They are all whacked now and dont even want to get up, they'd already had about an hour and a half each up the fields and they must've thought it was great that they had another half an hour in the park doing whatever they wanted. Mind you I'd like to know which one went out of the gate first coz if there was only 1 of them in the garden they would've stayed there they wouln't have gone out by themselves but of course ones gone and the other 2 cheeky monkeys have followed. Any way I'm just pleased that they're back safe and sound
Thanks for all your concerns
Amy and the 3 very tired gsds
