When on a diet do you weigh yourself regularly? I have been on a diet now for just over two weeks(Sons wedding in June) now I feel lighter, tummy gone down slightly, but nothing really has changed when I step on the scales! I am finding this quite disheartening, so I think I may leave the weigh in for a month, I have cut out eating anything between meals, given up sweets, although I have my treat of pkt crisps(low fat)still, I am sticking to 3 meals, even though sometimes I don't want breakfast I always have it.
Just would like to know whether anyone here weighs themselves or not?
Sweep :)

I weigh myself once a week, at first you notice the pounds come off but then you do tend to stop losing weight, something to do with muscle weighing more than fat. You might be better of measuring yourself in a few different places eg. tummy, top of arm, top of leg maybe once a month -- it might make you feel better :D

Hhmmmmmm......not sure I'm that brave Geoff! Think the scales are going away though - I have to get at least some weight off before this Wedding(more notice would have been nice)
Any one tried Tondo's

well its time for me now to get up off my backside and make a sweaping statement and i dont care who knows, regardless of having a disability and excercise limited, feeble feeble excuse for me as i have the pup which i excercise so i CAN do it, i weighed, 22 stone when i moved to yorkshire 8 years ago with the two kids, my excuse was well id just had my daughter by caesarian and the divorce and the ex and the pressure etc...
i settled down and weighed in for months and months at 18 stone, i met simon in 2000 and the weight dropped to 17-18 stone.
ive stuck at that fluctuating weight for years now and theres no need for me to be this heavy and ugly looking.
no one force feeds me or holds a gun to my head sayind eat this big fat lovely cream bun or face the consiquences.
ITS ALL ME MEMEMEMEMEMEMe.
Yes i have had it hard and gone through a rough time and of late, but now in just 1 week i have so much inspiration and it has helped being ill as my weight is 17 stone and 5 pound.
i will carry on watching what i eat, i will have breakfast lunch and an evening meal and i wont binge anymore.
i am determined to put a reply on this summer goddess programme next week with how much more ive lost.

GPs recommend you are weighed once a month, or every 4 weeks to try and prevent yo-yo dieting. i followed this route, just ate less and healthy and exercised and have lost 5.5 stone in a year. It was slow but really steady, a bit like pushing a really heavy stone, nothing happens at first then it just gets going and it does become easier. Stick to the regular meals and EXERCISE !! boo-hiss, but it's mathematics at the end of the day if you burn up more calories than you consume you are going to lose weight.
Don't give up!
i didn't have scales which is partly why I ended up so big, now I do own then but try to resist weighing myself too much because it can become an obsession.
I probably do this the wrong way but I weigh myself every morning when I get up. I do it because I've found that it motivates me if I know on a daily basis how much I've lost/gained etc. I know that the body can fluctuate quite a bit and thats why I do it at the same time everyday and it really has helped me.
I'm not the most motivated of people - and have taken the "I'll start my diet tomorrow" attitude for far too long, this way I sort of think right I weigh x amount this morning and I'm going to eat really sensibly today and see if I lose anything by tomorrow weighh in.
I guess different methods work for different people - I know some of my friends are on Weight Watchers and they don't weigh themselves apart from at the meeting and they sometimes starve themselves for a day in the hope of losing an extra lb or two!! I'm in no rush to lose the weight quickly but like to see how well I'm doing everyday to spur me on!! :D

I have needed something to motivate me to loose a bit of weight and as I said the fact that there is only 16 weeks to my Son's Wedding is making me panic slightly, but I am as I said not starving myself(been there done that) Annoyed with myself that I too lost weight when I had our last litter, then Christmas came!!! I am eating more healthy, fresh veg/fruit etc. I shall weigh myself monthly, I don't expect miracles, I know I have to keep it up and stay focused, the thought of the Wedding photo's is doing that!!
Sweep

I need to loose a similar amount of weight, and it is the prospect of it taking a year to 18 months which is what gets me down, as I find I can't get past the hunger pangs. In the pqast I have found if only I can get going for two weeks then I can keep going, as I find that the first week I am starving and don't loose any weight at all, despite really suffering,a nd then after the second week there is some weight loss.
Is there anything available that stops you feeling hungry that is safe. Keep getting spam about reductil, never read it, but is this availbable in UK or is it prescription only.
Just turned 40 on Sunday and feel for my bones I must do something before it is too late and Arthritis, osteporosis etc set in. :D
Brainless, I don't know whether it would help or not but I started my diet off by doing the Kelloggs Kick Start Diet - 2 weeks of having a bowl of crunchy nut cornflakes for breakfast (nothing wrong about that) and then again for lunch (take a bit of getting used to) and then a balanced evening meal. You can have the cornflakes with semi-skimmed milk (milk is good for bones thus for prevening osteoprosis).
You can also snack on fruit during the day - I went onto a bit of a juicy orange craving in the afternoon at work which helped my usual sugar craving rather than the Twirl that I would normally have!!
I lost about 8lbs in the first two weeks which has really helped to motivate me to continue.

once i got addicted to weighing myself, was doing it about 5times aday!
if (ha Ha) i diet now i just go by my jeans, ie if i can do them up! or if they fit well or too baggy!

also has anyone taken scales around to all the different rooms in there house? theres alot of different weights you can be in different rooms you know!
this kind of mad behaviour is obvisley why i threw the scales away!!!!

Can anyone tell me why my hubby has lost over 1/2stone walking Spice and I walk her just as much and have gained 1/2stone!

I think it's muscle going on and his is flab coming off,but if that's the case why doesn't my flab come off too? It's just not fair!!!!!! and I'm not having a good day!
Scales are horrible things to have in the house at the moment :p yes I am stamping my feet a bit here!
So I'm opening a bottle of plonk and have just ordered a curry from the chinese! just got to find the movie to watch now :D

If you want something to stop you feeling hungry then try water! Or go to a heealthfood shop like
Holland and Barrett and they sell herbal things such as Fibre Diet to stop you feeling hungry or things with Apple Pectin in to curb sweet cravings. There are other things you can try as well. Its under weight management on the website or people in the shop will help.
I personally used Weight Watchers and have just become a gold member! Yay :) I was weighed in today at 8 st 13 1/2 pounds. :)
Just find what works and stick to it!
Good Luck.

Hurrah!! I have lost nearly a stone in weight - really getting used to what I should and shouldn't eat now, eating more healthy things too. At least another stone to go, a bit more would be good but as my Son's Wedding is 21st June and I have to be realistic, but I am pleased that things have started to happen!
Sorry if I sounds like I'm showing off, I don't mean to.
