We are a family of 4 living in Wiltshire and are considering purchasing a puppy beagle.  Could you tell us the closest breeder and approximately how much a puppy may cost us.

The closest breeder to you is not the best way to decide who will provide you with a dog who will hopefully spend the next 12-15 years with you.
Find a breeder who health tests all their breeding stock and who registers their puppys with the kennel club.
A good breeder will ask you many questions to make sure you can provide a suitable for one of his babies.

Try contacting the beagle association. They will give you advice and they also have lists of reputable breeders. I would research the breed thoroughly to make sure it is the breed for you. As for price they vary from breeder to breeder, and like Archer said you are going to spend the next 12-15 years with this dog so make sure its the right one for you.
