I am thinking of rehoming a bulldog has anyone got a rescue dog or a bulldog and do you have any words of wisdom
I have a "rescue" dog who came from the local pound as a 6 month old pup. He has no real issues like dog aggressiion, destruction or seperation anxiety. I would check as much as you can about the breed, think about what issues you can/not deal with eg I have a dog so wont take a rescue who attacks other dogs, and find out how much support you can count on from breed rescue. Also do your circumstances fit their needs? Gwen Bailey's The Rescue Dog is a good book to read. Rescue is a fantastic thing to do but it takes a lot of time and determination before you see great results. My friend has spent 2 years with her rescue who is now a lovely happy lad but who was nearly PTS when she got him. I always said whatever happened after Morse came home we' d handle together. So read the book, think honestly about what you can offer and contact the breed rescue to find out more. Good luck, others here have more experience.

We have a lovely crossbreed that we have had for 4 1/2 years. He was absolutely marvellous for the first month and then several different problems arose - some quite serious. It took about 2 years before we had sorted most of them and he still has a legacy. BUT he is wonderful and it has been well worth it. My advice would be to find some really good training classes straight away :) Hopefully any dog that you get will be fine - but do be prepared for some problems :)

Hiya i have Bulldogs i show and breed them, are you in this country? if so have you got your name down on the rescue list as there is a long waiting list, they get under your skin they can be very naughty and very loving they can get a few things wrong with them in the summer you have to keep them cool at all times you must be careful what you feed them as there skin can flare up they snore alot and pass wind they take over the house but they love you all best of luck with your seach .
