Hi.
I have a year old chololate brown lab boy. He is boisterous and big loving softie. I was thinking of buying another puppy boy so that they would grow up together, and form a close bond. I wanted to get a German shepherd, but have been given conflicting opinions over the suitability of having two males growing up together especially if one of them is a German Shepherd. In that they could become spurring partners rather than buddies. I would very much like to hear your opinion on this. And if you would suggest another breed for me that you would think would be more suitable as a friend to the my one year old chocolate lab.
I would really appreciate your input.

Hi Sue, why not join so that you can reply to anyones comments/advise. I don't see the relevance of your chosen breed being a Shepherd. I have boy shepherds with Labs and the only arguements I have ever had are between the girls. Whichever breed that you choose you will find that your lab boy will revert back to puppyhood and you will have days when you will think 'why did I get another dog' You may find though that they will bond to each other and possibly less with you. The important thing with your second and in particular if you do get a Shepherd is to train and socialise seperate to the older guy, otherwise you will find the new pup will 'hide behind' the older already confident one and lack confidence of his own.
