My border collie bitch was 2 years old a fortnight ago and has been fully house trained for well over a year, and certainly hasn't gone to the loo inside for over a year. Yet last night i took her outside and she did a wee at 10pm and she settled down to bed in my room as usual. I got up for work this morning at 5am and her bed was soaking wet. It had soaked through a folded duvet onto the cushion below, and because of the sheer volume of it i am certain it wasn't drool (She only drools when she feels very sick and she wasn't sick and ate her breakfast ok.) I can only assume it was urine. I cannot understand why she would do it on her bed, as if she really was that desperate (unlikely given that she can hold for an awfully long time and has only ever once asked to go out during the night since she has been sleeping on my room - from 7 months onwards) she would have asked me to go out which she didn't as i didn't wake up at all. She would also go on the floor if it was an emergency, not her bed. She was spayed in June last year, but she hasn't shown any signs of urinary incontinence at all, even though i know it is possible. However she was very restless the night before, even after having lots of exercise during the day, which is unlike her. Her general behaviour, (i.e. bright and active) is ok and she has a good appetite. Recently she has had an occaisional fishy smell from her back end, which i believe could be connected to anal glands, but this goes away very quickly so i haven't been too worried. Now i'm wondering if these things are connected?
Also her behaviour towards other dogs has deteriorated in the last few months, and she now becomes agressive to any dog that pays her too much attention, and appears really nervous and stressed in training situations. We have had to stop agility for a while, and she appears unhappy in her usual training class, something she has attended since she was a puppy. I( just put it down to maturity and nervousness and have consulted a behaviourist, but i am wondering if it may be aggrevated by something medical?
I am considering consulting a vet, but i don't want to seem like a time waster so i thought i would ask if any of you have any experience of things like this?
