Topic Dog Boards / Health / raspberry leaf as a matter of course?
- By novice [gb] Date 21.02.04 13:45 UTC
Hi I've read on various posts on here that raspberry leaf and/or pulsatilla are good for phantom pregnancies.  My query is - my bitch's season is at 21 days today (English Springer Spaniel if that makes any difference)  so probably about finished (i hope!)  Should i give one or both remedies as a matter of course to prevent a phantom pregnancy or should i wait for signs first then treat if they appear?  If i should wait then what signs will show first?  (that might sound really daft and if I'm being particularly thick then I apologize) because some of the signs i.e. enlarged nipples will surely be a result of being in season?

Many thanks, Claire

Hi Clare

I don't give either, but I do cut down on my bitches food intake when they are n season if they are prone to severe phantoms

Hi Claire,
If your bitch is prone to phantoms I would give raspberry leaf tablets as a matter of course, cut down her protein and up her exercise. If she isn't particularly affected by phantoms then I wouldn't bother. They certainly do no harm though.

thanks for the info.  She isn't showing any signs so hopefully all will be well.
