Hiya
I'm off to visit a boarding kennels tomorrow, a friend has said its a good one. I'm just wondering what I should be looking out for, & what sort of questions I should ask?? I'm dreading leaving Dylan when we go on holiday so I've got to be really happy with the place.

I work in a very good boarding kennels unlike some other kennels in the area! make sure the kennels asks for an up to date booster and kennel cough vaccine and that they want to see your vaccination card  - this way you know that all the other dogs in their care are fully vaccinated. Even if they dont ask for the kennel cough vaccine i would still get it done to protect your dog. You should get a feeling about the kennels the minute you arrive - if you are at all unhappy dont go there! The kennels should be clean , light and airy and the dogs in them happy! the dogs will probably bark as you look round but at a good kennels shouldn't really be barking as you arrive - happy settled dogs are usually quiet and contented to sit and watch you , go out for their walks and look forward to breakfast and tea!! Ideally go to a kennels where they walk the dogs - we walk ours four times a day , which is more time consuming then putting them in a run and sometimes more work ; some dogs dont know how to walk on a lead wlthout taking your arm out of its socket , but the dogs enjoy it more. good luck in finding your kennels - i would be interested in hearing how you got on!

Hiya Sugar thanx so much for the detailed reply. Unfortunately I had a bit of a disastrous visit this morning :-( I knew vaguely where the place is, its a little village. But just our luck to get there this morning & the roads to the village are all closed due to resurfacing work arghhh we tried walking round but hadnt a clue where we were going, so we'll wait till next week & try again then.

Sorry to hear about your problem this morn - hopefully you'll have more luck next week. could you maybe phone the kennels in the morn of the day you are visiting to check the roads are clear so you dont have another wasted journey? seeing you are a bit apprehensive about leaving Dylan have the kennels suggested leaving him for a day to see how he gets on so that you are more able to enjoy your holiday when you do go away?
