I have been giving very many mixed suggestions towards neutoring.  I have a one year old German pup, who is trying to hump anything at all(even my male friends).   When I am walking him and he see's another dog he pulls badly trying to get over to sniff and the other stuff that comes along with it(he's never aggressive towards other dogs).
So my vet and others have said I should but a collegue who breeds dogs was disgusted at the suggestion, saying it could really change him.
Look forward to hearing your views

He is going through the teenage stage and will grow out of it, castrating may stop it but may well not and could leave it as a life long habbit.

But if you leave it and he doesn't grow out of it, then the castration might not make any difference due to his age.  If you are not going to breed, then I would have him neutered, should stop the humping if nothing else.  JMO.

There will be plenty of different opinions on this, it is up to you as his owner to make the final decision.

It probable wont make any difference anyway, left alone the dog will grow out of it castrated it may well continued, lets face it bitches do it all the time.

Why not just let your pup know that this behaviour is NOT acceptable say it in a tone that leaves no chance of being misunderstood.  Bitches do it with young males and there is no reason why humans should not as well.

My male only tried it on twice with me during one sunny afternoon and I let him know, in no uncertain terms that this was not on and that if he tried it again he would have his dangly bits removed with the pliers I was working with at the time.  He obviously believed me and desisted
