Can anyone recommend some clippers which will go through a shih tzus hair.  A breeder recommded a pair of hairdressing sheers however I have tried them and the wouldnt cut though.  Where would I be able to get some at a reasonible price and could anyone recommend a make.  I bought some of ebay slod as dog/horse sheers but when they came they were just cheap human sheers

You really need Oster or Wahl KM1 professional clippers.  Anything less won't take the skin off a rice pudding!!  You'll also need a #15 blade for under ears, tails and armpits, plus a 1" snap on comb to leave the body coat a decent length (if you don't want to perfect your scissoring techniques!! ;) ) so that she doesn't look like a sausage with 4 matchsticks for legs!!

I am going to get some at crufts. As, like you I have some humen clippers, ok for the top of mines head/neck and face, but useless for trying to clip his leg hair to a decent length(an Am cocker)
Could you get to a show and look and test them ????
Lea :)

Hi  Eddie,  Depends if you are just going to do your own 1 dog, and how knot free and clean it is.  If you want professional power and clip-on re-sharpenable blades, then the Oster A5, Andis AGC & AGR, the Moser Mac, Aesculap, and Wahls all cost around £100 to £200.  Christies, Technogroom, Deznyadog to name but a few will all do them by mail order.  My personal preference is the Laube Mini -micro, lightweight, small, runs very cool and quiet, and easy to self maintain.  For just one dog, the clipper we use for at show finishing and doing baby pups would be fine.  It is the Babyliss  Pro forfex, with adjustable ceramic blade and comes complete with various comb attatchments.  It is rechargeable but can also be used corded.  Available at hairdressers wholesalers for about £55.

Am still trying to get info. on the people you asked about, but no-one has heard  of them so far.

bye
Gwen
