Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / 3 Meals or 2?
- By AngelBaby [gb] Date 16.02.04 18:54 UTC
Angel is 14 weeks now and she never seems to eat a whole meal! Is it best to drop her down to 2 meals or just to make the 3 meals smaller?
Thanks!!

Can't remember what breed, if I ever knew, but think 14 weeks is to early to drop to 2 meals, make the meals smaller if they are not being cleared up in about 20 minuets.

I have 7month rough collie she is still on 3 meals meat in the morning & tea a tin of rice at supper with an egg stirred in  But maybe I am overfeeding

She is a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and she either ignores her food altogether and then goes back later or just picks at it! It's weird to see compared to my brothers Lab puppy who's food is gone as soon as it touches the bowl!
I guess i'll just be less generous with the portions then.
I thought 14 weeks was too young!
Is there a right age though?

Not really I have a BC who has always eaten just one meal a day from day one I was quite worried til he breeder told me his mother did just the same & he is her spitting image I managed to get more down him by giving him the reat as titbits during training & for "going"outside. He's a really intelligent dog he only ever pee'd once in the house when I first got him & has always asked to go out just like his mum apparantly

My cavaliers have all been picky most unusual for the breed in general but my breeders dogs aren't piggy like lots of cavaliers

You might be just giving her too much altogether so try giving her a little less split into three meals
