We have a perfect little dog (Shelti) who is nearly 6 months old and we love her to bits, but she does like to bark when she's outside. She will bark at the fence, the birds, the clouds, her reflection in a window, the clothes line, the grass growing, in all just about anything really so that when out walking she will bark at EVERYTHING.
This is becoming a problem now and i really need to try and break the habit (if it isn't to late)
I was told to ignore the barking and to praise her when she wasn't, but she never shuts up !!!!!.. she isn't frightened or tense, and she just seems to like the sound of her voice.
My vet said to use a anti-bark collar, as this will stop it quite quickly, he said to use the one with a electrical pulse??........is this right, will it hurt her. He said the other ones aren't so good...has anyone used one of these.
I don't want to hurt my dog, but i have to do something to break this constant barking. Thankyou.  Yes i have looked on the search, but it didn't really come up with much on these types of collars.

Have you tried providing her with a distraction (such as a favourite toy which is kept ONLY for these occasions)?  As soon as she starts barking call her to you and ask her to 'sit' (or another command she already knows and you can employ under any conditions) then give her the toy.  This way she's going to learn that paying attention to you brings better rewards than barking.  I would only use an anti bark collar under very controlled circumstances, and then, only a Master Plus collar which uses a spray of water (sometimes of citronella) rather than an 'e collar' which uses static eletricity (such as the shock you might pick up from a car door or after walking across a man made fabric carpet) as I have heard of so many cases when the use of the e collar brings on more behaviour problems than it solves (such as fear of the garden, seperation anxiety made worse), this would be expecially pertinant to a sensitive breed like a Sheltie.  No 'cure' will be instant and surely your little girl deserves a bit of time and patience to promote your future relationship with her?

I have used bark collars, wouldn't recommend the electric shock one, not very nice for a puppy, but the citronella one that sprays a smell when the dog barks is very good, My old dog barks when we have visitors, as soon as I put it on him he stops barking.
