Tell her not to waste her money. Places like that are supplied by unscrupulous puppy farmers. The sooner they go out of business the better.

Hi guest,

i personally wouldnt go there, i had vertually the same question about posh puppies in lincolnshire, got some sound advice from this forum, i was told that if there was more than 3 types of puppies for sale not to bother, more than likely a puppy farm and that is a no no on this forum, i may be wrong about this smart puppies so why dont you join the forum, you'll get great advice,

Steph :)

They are cheap  and readily available because they PROBALLY have no hip scores for generations  no clear eye tests ,no Kc papers but come with a pedigree which my six year old could knock up if shes got five minutes to spare!!
If your friend wants to line the puppy farmers pocket and buy a puppy which is probally less like a pure bred lab than the lab crosses in the Rspca! then visit this type of establishment! good breeders dont breed evry popular breed of dog they specialise in one or two chosen breeds. do a search for Posh Puppies Lincoln on this site!
:) while people continue to buy from this type of establishment they will continue to breed /purchase puppies its suply and demand.

Also a proper reputable breeder would not name their kennel in such a way.  Most breeders have a Kennel name/Affix which is like a surname. but used at the start of the registered name of each puppy.

For example lets say the kennel name is Heatherblue, each registered pups name would be Heatherblue something.

If shown the Puppies pedigree, and the breeder is of longstanding it is likely that the bitch ancestors will be eg Heatherblue Bess, whose mother was Heatherblue Blossom, whose mother was heatherblue Damson etc.

So if I went to a kennel called Heatherblue and found quite a few dogs with their affix in the pups pedigree, maybe even on both Mum and Dads side then I would know they had generations of breeding behind them.  They would likely be able to tell you which traits good and bad these and other dogs in the pedigree had.

So just by asking to look at a pups pedigree you can learn quite a lot about the breeders backgrond in their breed.

Pedigrees that all have pet names for parents throughout the generations are unlikely to be produced by Knowledgeable breeders. So lots of just plain Lovely Lady, Plain Jane, Sunny Jim, Lovely Lad etc point to a pedigree that is just dogs bred purely for sale, or even that it is all made up if they aren't Kennel Club registered.

I do training and rescue in Lincs and I have already commented in the other thread about Posh Puppies.  The same opinions apply.  These outlets are simply selling on dogs bred elsewhere and usually that means puppy farming.  Every time you feel sorry for one of these dogs you are contributing to the misery of puppy farming.  I used to think the public were ill informed and mislead and certainly sometimes that is true.  However I am an adviser for a National Dog Advice line and I get more calls from people who start with "well I know I shouldn't buy from these places, but........." than any calls from ingorant people.  One man one told me he bought a dog from one of these outlets as it was "so easy", lots of breeds to choose from and no questions asked.
I had to rescue his dog aged about 18 months as it was so aggresssive.  Its papers showed although bought in Lincs it was inevitably registered in Wales, full KC registration.  It had to be put to sleep.  That is one of many stories I could tell.
I see quite a few dogs bought through these outlets, being dumped and rehomed because of temperament or health problems.  Please DON'T buy from them, ask the relevant breed clubs for lists of breeders and make sure all the relevant health tests have been done and proof seen.
There are plenty of people around to help new owners find good breeders.

Hi Smart pups is also known as SLpups my advice from someone who lives in Lincoln is stay away from any multiple breeder, people like this are only after one thing and thats the money.  They have no time for the care and maintenance of either the dogs or puppies.  Also check on the internet sites such as admart uk etc and you will also see by looking at the phone numbers that pups of various types are being sold from the same address supposedly being reputable breeders.  There are plently of excellent breeders out there keep looking and always ask the right questions.  Indy
