Anyone know whats the average weight increase in a pregnant bitch.She's a toy breed and it obviously depends on how many pups she's carriying.Going on an average litter  what sort of weght increase should she be having.She's  in her 6th week now.

Sorry , dont weigh my bunch - just check by eye that they look well and are growing gradually in the tummy area.

Hi yep agree with gwen.I also breed toy dogs and i dont weigh them.I just keep an eye on then and can tell if everything is going well.I do remember though one of my girls was pregnant and she looked absolutely tiny until the 6th week she ballooned right up and had 5 puppies.Each one weighing 3 ounces each.So personally as long as she looks ok and gradually gaining weight dont bother about weighing her.

Ok thanks  this is my first litter with this breed and I wasn't quite sure.I know where I am with the springers  but these are new to me.
I've done all my homework etc but none of the books I had stated what was the norm.
I'm quite happy with here health wise and things are progressing  fine.She's actually put on half a pound so far  so I'm assuming this is ok.
I won't bother to weigh her again then.
