can anyone tell me the facts about bitches in season please?
My father in law's dog is obviously in season, could she have been in season for a while before he knew it? How long does a season last? His dog is very swollen around her genital area and is very off colour, she also seems to be looking for a dog!
Any information would be very much appreciated

The season lasts about 21 days but it can be longer. If she is swollen the I would guess she has been in about 10 days. The whole thing is very variable so you only know your own bitch really.
