Has anyone had an umbilical hernia repaired on their dog.  If so was the result good and did it have any lasting effect on the dog.

My bitch had one repaired when she was spayed, it healed up fine - wasn't an enormous one but it's never given any trouble.

I had one done on a mastiff no problems

One of my old Dane girls had an umbilical hernia and my vet advised to leave it alone, also if it was removed the Kennel Club would not allow me to show her anymore. It never bothered her, stopped her from winning or interferred with her having puppies.
