For a good few months now Cam has been getting strange little spot-like bumps on his nose. They don't appear sore, but he does occasionally knock the top off them and they bleed, very slightly. Does anyone what what this might be? It could almost be described as acne!

I had something like this on a bitch I once had, she also had these spots on her chin which is where it is more usual to find them and yes it was acne, my bitch had. There is something very similar, your dog can get which my vet thought my bitch had originally but I forget the name, anyway he said there was not much you could do about either condition except to wait and watch for it to clear up in due course. Where exactly on the dogs nose is it getting these spots? My new pup, has them all over his chin and it is definately canine acne in his case.

Hi Polly, thanks for replying. The spots are on the top of his nose. They aren't fleshy bumps ... they are as you say very acne like. I didn't realise dogs could suffer from it though! I'll mention it to the vet next time we go in.

On top of his nose you can get spots which look like blisters, and these can appear and disappear. This is the other thing I was talking about and still for the life of me cannot remember the name! Sounds like it could be this. Acne does tend to be more of a chin thing. Ask your vet about it. I am sure it nothing to worry about as it sounds exactly the same as my bitch. Dogs do suffer from acne, my puppy has it quite badly all over his chin and one on his muzzle at the minute.

Dobes are prone to chin spots and I suppose theres no reason why they can't get them on the top of their nose -I use sudocreme on my dogs for any acne type spots -It helps to dry them up
