What is a good age for a Springer.

My last Springer died at 13 and a half. She was going strong 'til close to the end. I would consider this a 'good age' but she was a working dog so don't really know.

Mine is 6 and for HIM that's a good age!!  He's had several near misses and it's a miracle he made it this far!!

In our village there's a 14 year old bitch still likes going for walks, slow walks though, and there's a 12 year old that would pass for 6 or 7.

My friends have just lost one at 15 1/2 & have a 13 1/2 yrs bitch who is still pretty active, though a bit stiff till she gets going.

My Dad lost his old boy aged 14 - and he was another one who was lucky to make it that far - worst one was a tussle with a milk tanker which resulted in multiple lacerations, shortened one ear by 1.5" and broke his back  - the vet said he might be walking again in 6 months if Dad could make him a trolley (they weren't commercially available then you see) - not only was he walking, he was also doing the 'Springer Bounce!'.....
