Please have a look here.http://www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc/smile/furry/pups_index.shtml
The bitch concerned Brulee is only 18 months old and this is going out to thousands of children condoning that breeding from an 18 month old bitch is ok ! :(
I am waiting for a response to my concerns as have mailed the BBC but perhaps if more people mailed they may take notice.
Lovely to see the pictures of her pups, they are very cute as we can all see, but please, the impact on the younger generation that breeding from such a young bitch is right I feel is wrong.

I found the site, but can't seem to find an email addy to complain too, I think they know I'm blonde, so confusing me was easy
Can someone post the email address while I'm sharpening my tongue!!!

The addy is

Did you get this response
'Hi there, your message has successfully reached the CBBC computer!
This is just a quick note to say thanks and to let you know that we do read through all the emails we receive.
Best wishes,
The CBBC Website team'
I have had this and then I received this
'Thanks for your email,
Which we've passed onto the Smile team.
Best wishes
CBBCi'
I have since mailed and asked for a contact of the Producer of Smile.

Right I have some more info for.
I have got the details of when the program is on, Sunday's BBC1 from 7.30am until 10.30am.
I have the e-mail addy of the lady at Ofcom who is dealing with my complaint as well.
She was unable to take it any further as I couldn't give her a day and time the program was so now I have it she will be able to investigate.
It take take a few days for the BBC to reply to me.

Thank you for that Lucy. I have sent Ofcom an email too now.
Sally
I also e-mailed the beeb and the lady at offcom. She called me to say that seh didn't wantpeople to send e-mails to this address (she wasn't very happy about it at all). Please call offcom at 0845 5563000 instead.

I don't understand why she doesn't want people to use that address as that is her e-mail address on an official letter she has sent me concerning my complaint? If it was not be used then she shouldn't have it on her letterheads :)

reply back and suggest that as she works for the Office of Communications she might like to learn how to forward an email
By karola

Please do not contact Karola Gajda on her personal address at Ofcom.
A complaint can be lodged by visiting www.ofcom.org.uk
Or by phoning 0845 456 3000
I would appreciate you passing this on to people to whom my personal email address has been given.
Please could my name be erased from the website, and please could you let me know via this board the source of how my personal email was posted up.
Thank you

The way to complain to Ofcom is by calling 0845 456 3000.
Of via the site, www.ofcom.org.uk
Please inform people you have contacted I am not the direct contact. Thank you.

If people send you emails - can you not just forward them to the appropriate person? You are representing the Office of Communication after all. Is it really such a huge issue if people send a few emails?
Talk about making life difficult.

Karola
It was me who posted your e-mail address as I have it on some correspondance from you and no where on that correspondance did it say that it was a private and confidental e-mail address. I interperate a 'personal e-mail address' one to be nothing to do with yoru place of work :)
I cannot see what the problem is as it states also on the letter that you are the 'Case Officer' for this complaint and so would have thought you are the direct contact :)

I have just had a phonecall to say that they need the excat date originally I saw the trailer so it was on the 11th January 2004 on Smile 7.30am to 10.30am.
She also advised me that the case is closed and will have to open another case so if you ring 0845 456 3000 they will log any new complaints.
I apologised if she had felt compromised that I had put her e-mail address on the web site but still cannot understand why as she works for Ofcom and the letter does state she is the case officer

What does the breed club code of ethics say is the mimimum age for breeding?

We need a GR club member for that - the only Code of Ethics I can find on the GR club website is the general KC one.
By LJS
Date 05.02.04 17:22 UTC

So what is the general code of ethics then JG ?
Lucy

There is no general code of ethics, Lucy, other than perhaps the Kennels Club's which is not to accept registration before the bitch is a year old.

This is the
KC General Code of EthicsIn my breed club it states that bitches should not be
mated before they are 2 years old. It was tightened up a few years ago after being that the litter shouldn't be
born before the bitch was 2.

I had a look on the web site too Jeangenie but I suspect the club has got one, as you say we need a member, I'm sure Champdogs must have one.
By LJS

I have mailed them and asked the question :)

I would think they do as the KC asked Breed Councils about early 90's to draw up Breed club Codes of Ethics.
In ours it states a bitch shouldn't have a litter under two years of age.

I took the information below from the Smile Website.
"Brulee is an 18th month old golden retriever, who's a proud mummy of ten puppies! She thought she was going to have 8, but she had seven boys and three girls. All the pups are happy and healthy!
She was named Brulee by her owner Jackie after the delicious desert Crème Brulee because her kennel name is Honeybury Coco Crème.
Brulee loves playing with soft toys and her favourite soft toy is a trumpet that plays a tune.
Brulee's Mum is called Purdey who had 9 other puppies like her! Her father is called Xanthos Blackthorn Thornton is 5 years old and comes from the same family as Brulee's boyfriend."

I have had an e-mail from the Chairman of the breed club but I am waiting for his permission before I post his response :)

Right this is the official line from the breed club by Mr Dick Bridges the Honourary Secretary:
'This depends very much how often the bitch comes in season as some are every 6 months and others can be to 10 months. Our recommendation is that the first litter should certainly not be before the bitch is eighteen months old and preferably at about 2 years.'
'The GRC preference is for the bitch to be 2 years old'

So the GRC would not give this their blessing?
By LJS
Date 09.02.04 08:13 UTC

Perhaps I should invite Dick to post on here to see if he will perhaps give a more definate line on this particular case maybe ?
I will mail him to invite him to make the GRC's stand on this.

Bit wishy washy, just what they would prefer, do they not have a code at all? Without a code I don't see how they could take any action against a member.
