Hello all, a few months back my staff Bailey was playing with a ball, the ball rolled off the sofa,Bailey jumped off of sofa after the ball and slid along wooden floor into the wall front feet first.when he walked away from the wall he was limping.Iphoned vet and they said let him rest overnight and bring him in the morning if he's still limping.Iwent to vet next morning,he was examined and iwas told he had just bruised his shoulder.Since then after long walks or free running in park, when he gets home and after resting he seems very stiff in the front legs.He still jumps onto my lap for a cuddle and on and off sofa so i dont think he is in any pain.Since his walk before i went to work this morning he has been quite stiff again,i've booked a vet appointment for tomorrow at 4-30 just to get him checked.Has anyone else experienced this or have any views on what might be wrong or am i being over cautious.Bailey is 13 months old, please help if you can. Hi Pauly,
My ISBT experienced something similar in the summer. He injured his shoulder and was limping quite badly the vet couldn't find anything wrong so gave metacam anti inflam, he would seem to improve then after a long walk would start limping again once rested, this went on for about 8 weeks maybe more, we had to build his exercise up gradually over a few weeks and that did the trick.
Our vet told us it often happened and was the sort of thing that can seem to drag on maybe because they are so muscular.
hope this helps :)
good luck

Hello , just got back from vets. after bending Baileys legs and checking his shoulder, knee and foot joints the vet said she couldn't find anything wrong and that he isn't in any pain, she gave me a 2 week coarse of tablets for him and see if they help,if not she said he will need a x-ray to get to the bottom of the problem and quoted me a price of £195.alas i didn't get Bailey insured so fingers crossed, the tablets work. Hi Pauly
I hope the tablets work are they an anti inflammatory (sp) of some sort?
As I said it does sound like what my boy had they just do not take things easy do they, but I think rest is the only answer we confined him to lead walks for a couple of weeks then spent a week of building up his freedom slowly ie no mad haring about after his pals and no wrestling them either just quiet walks believe me I know how hard it is to rest a staffie but if it is the same thing I can't recommend it enough.
Hope Bailey gets better soon
