I have a 6 month old female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. She never settled sleeping in the kitchen and so she now sleeps in our bed with us. She loves being with us and loves to go everywhere we go. I wanted to get another female Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. My other half is worried that if we do get another one our puppy will become jealous and will hate the new puppy. I think it will be good for her to have a friend for company when we are out. I wanted two originally but we had never owned a dog before so decided to get just one. I am concerned that if we do get a second our one will get upset and we will end up regretting this. Can anyone help as I really do not know what to do for the best.
Thank you

hi i have 2 ckcs....i say go for it, this breed is naturally sociable and loves company of people and other animals, not only that jelousy is a behaviour you definatly dont want to encourage at 6 months your lil dahling is hardly set in her ways and even if she does get the huff for a couple of days it wont last! having a playmate will more than make up for having to share her mummy!

Thanks Emma, you said you have two ckcs, what sex are they, how old are they and did you get yours at the same time? Some people have said that I should wait until my one has her first season or until she is fully trained. However, I am not sure if we are going to let her have a season as the vets said it is best to have her spayed before she has her first season. As I said I have been considering getting another ckcs but talking to friends etc has kind of put me off. My partner is worried about upsetting our one. It is hard to know when the time is right. I don't want to end up regretting getting another one. I also wanted to train my one to sleep in the kitchen and I think having another may help with that as I think the reason she won't sleep there now is she hates being on her own.

There should be no problems as cavaliers love company I started with one & now have 4 all boys & a large GSD(she is a big girl :))bitch & two male border collies
We have no problems & as the bitch is spayed we have no seasons to worry about
There is a forum totally devoted to cavaliers at
