Hi,
Have a look at
the Dalmatian Telegraph and click on Puppy List. Make sure any pup you buy has been BAER tested and has a certificate guaranteeing its hearing status. This is even more vital if you are even remotely contemplating having a litter - breeding animals
must have bilateral hearing. Hearing in one ear only is acceptable in a pet, but it rules the animal out from breeding completely. When you go to look at a litter, tell the breeder that there is a possibility that you may want to show and breed her - then you will not be shown the 'purely pet' pups who would not be suitable.
Is your existing dog castrated? Because without a lot of research into his pedigree you are unlikely to find a bitch puppy that would make a suitable mate for him when she is grown, which would mean completely separating them for the full 3-4 weeks of her season every time. Even so you would have to do this for the first 3 or 4 seasons before she was old enough to be mated.
Price-wise expect to pay a minimum of £350 - 10 years ago even puppy-farmers were charging £300 for poor quality, illbred, badly-reared little scraps.
Hope this helps.
:)
