Until I started my search for a PS2 for my daughter I thought I was up to date with technology but this has stumped me.  She only really needs something quite basic but can anyone tell me what usually comes in the package and what seperates I need to buy!  She also wants the 'groove' game that you play with the eye toy - question is - do you buy the eye toy seperately or does it come with the game as I can't find one thats just on its own.  I must add that all my searching has been completely internet and not shops so its difficult to find out much info.

The eye toy comes with the game eye toy play which has about 12 games on it ( kung-fu, keepie ups, wishy washie window cleaning, boxing etc). You can only buy the groove game on it's own. I got my kids one from amazon they were about the cheapest.

No it doesn't. I had to buy a memory card and it wasn't cheap, either. About £20 I think. It will depend on what package you but as to what you will get with it. Usually just the ps2 and controller along with leads, but not scart leads. Some packages will give a game or two (or more, depending on package). I got Prince of Persia with mine. Aaaaargh. It's driving me mad :D

you can get cheaper maemory cards on e-bay. How old is your daughter, if she is young than you need to look for games that are suitable for her age. You can also play dvd's on it which you can operate with the controller or you can get a remote control.
Do a search on www.ebay.co.uk you can get things at very good prices

thanks for the information, my daughter will be 9.  Someone has told me that you can use PS1 memory cards in the PS2, is that true?  Excuse my ignorance but what will we need scart leads for, will it just be for the DVD player?

Son has just informed me that you can only use a PS1 memory card when playing PS1 games . Therefore you will need a PS2 memory card for PS2 games :rolleyes:
You can get cheaper cards that arent made by Sony.
The scart leads run the connection through the TV and you will need them even to play games. Ours both came with scartleads.
