My friend has just informed me that someone she knows has had an ''accidental'' pregnancy with their weimaraner and border collie. Apparently it happened in the back of a van and it seems as if their taking it as one big joke. Have no idea if the pups have got homes, don't think they've been born yet.

How can people be so careless?????

Unfortantly these things happen!  Its a shame more people don't know about the injection from the vets :(

unfortunately most of these things don't JUST happen. Can't believe they didn't know the bitch was in season and just happened to be put in the van with an entire male.
IMO more of these are planned than we would be led to beleive....

Unfortunately not everyone does know about the injection! It would depend ont he circumstances but I wouldn't automatically run to the vets if their was a misalliance you have to weigh everything up and make an informed decision.

Yesterday at the Vets, I heard about brother and sister Labs that mated "accidently".  Owner apparently thought they would be safe to leave together at night during her season!  If that was just an excuse, it was a really bad one :(

Nothing surprises me! I know of people who thought it would be fine to leave a brother and sister unsupervised when the bitch was in season simply because they were brother and sister! They were horrified and disgusted when it was pointed out that dogs don't have taboos about incest. They would have been happier with goldfish!

In the one of the breeds I have which is very small in numbers there has been 3 brother sister mateing one pair were only 10 month old the pups have gone on to be bred from and 2 father daughter mateing these were let go ahead by knowledgable breeders!
