Hi
Just a quick one. I want to walk my little four month old,... but worrying that once he's rolled around in the exciting new snow he will be freezing and worrying that on the walk home he is wet and cold in these temps.

Am i being way too overprotective.. just that i am a new puppy owner and this is his first experience in snow.. he absolutely loves it - quite a delight to watch!!

thanks

As long as you keep him moveing and as soon as you get home rub him down with a towl to dry him and or get the hairdrier on him.  The worst time they feel the cold, like us, is when they stop.

As Ice Queen said, he'll be fine if you keep him moving.

You could also rub vaseline onto his pads, this can help prevent 'ice burn', and will stop the snow 'balling' in his feet.

At 4 months old your pup should be fine having a play in the snow.
It depends a lot on the breed too, a 4 month old malamute would obviously cope better in the cold than a 4 month old yorkshire terrrier.
I had a litter of 6 week old pups out in the snow yesterday - only for a few minutes, they had a little peep & a play & then went back inside.
