Rawhides are not good for dogs, they can choke and die from them..You never no for sure what they actually are made from or what is in them...Take them away...They also are not a food source...It would be like asking a child if they want their supper or pudding what do you think the child would pick?

If you do a search on here about rawhides you will get alot of information :)

i was only enquiring if they would fill him up,  i wasnt using them as a food source. but will now stop them and see if his appetite returns

thanks

Hi Alison,

If you've been giving your dog rawhide chews for some time and his appetite has diminished it may have nothing to do with the rawhide.  You would have to have fed your dog an awful lot of rawhide (unless you have a small dog) to put him off his food.

I've given my dogs rawhide for many years and never had a problem, but I've never had a dog that actually swallowed much of the hide at one time.   I never gave them the minced and pressed hide, however, which I suppose would be much easier to break up and swallow.
