Topic Dog Boards / Health / Feeding giant breed pups - NatureDiet?
- By KathyM [gb] Date 27.01.04 08:50 UTC
Hi - I was wondering if any of the large/giant dog breeders feed NatureDiet to their pups? We've been looking into the risks of OCD etc, and seeing as we're possibly adopting a bullmastiff pup (5 months old) we were wondering what type was best to feed. Ruby (our current dog) is on the adult variety, and I've emailed NatureDiet for advice too, but what we're reading so far is that normal puppy foods can be too high calorie/protein/calcium for large and giant breeds and can put too much weight on them too fast. Does this include NatureDiet's pup food? If so, would that mean feeding the adult variety of NatureDiet? We would prefer new pup to go on ND or similar, but if not possible, suggestions of a good natural alternative (but not BARF) that would be suitable for a giant breed are much appreciated. :)
Thanks
Kathy

My girl is on JWB junior she is a large breed and it's fine, i sometimes mix it with something like cheese/tuna/fresh mince etc.

Thanks mygirl - are there any more natural alternatives? I'm reluctant to feed dry food again after what I've learned about it, and James Wellbeloved's parent company test on animals :(

Hey Wishfairy - she's up on the other site ;) WITH pics (on general board).
Rubys doing brilliantly - seems she's been having us on a bit to get to see the handsome vet - he's listened to her lungs etc when we were certain she was going downhill, and they've actually improved - no more fluid at least. :D
Now she's just like any other 7 year old Boxer - mad as a hatter, she's been sussed the little hypochondriac! *lmso*
