Has anyone given this to their dog?? Went to the supermarket and they had everything but lamb's liver, so I picked up a pack of ox liver. Now I thought I'd check with the champdog's crew to see if there is anything I should know (knowing me its toxic to dog's !!!) :D - Anyone added this to their liver cake????
Sarah (and Lana waiting patiently for her treat of the day :D)

That fine, I think in all we have used all liver in liver cake as it depends whats cheepest!!!! Also used kindneys which the dogs loved!!!!!!
Just incase you can't find any liver!!! :D

Thanx Rox :) - Bit new to the home made treats thing! We need to practice some recalls tonight as Lana has become deaf on walks  - I think I have a 'Kevin' on my hands :D
Sarah

Ahhh but not as bad as my perry!!!! :D Who suits his name!
Good luck on recalls, when she doesn't return on walks have you tried walking/running away?

Thing is Rox I think I'm being a bit of a pushy mum :D - We learnt recalls at a very young age especially so because of her breed/speed! We walk her twice a day and go on special walks on weekends and her recalls have been brilliant. If we needed to we would hide and she got quite upset about that but it was kind of reassuring to know that she wasn't so independant that she could cope without mum and dad :D...Well, she will come back when called if we meet another dog that doesn't want to play with her, but if we find another pupster or playful dog she is very difficult to recall during play - which is understandable i guess, at 5 months old who can blame her for wanting a chase rather than come back to boring 'ol mum. Thing is that sometimes the dog she chases doesn't cope to well with it and I would like to be able to call her out of that - which I know is going against her instinct and wont be easy  but I dont want a hound that is restricted to lead walks! I guess she is still a baby so I am just reminding her of the basics (we always have a little training session in the living room in the evenings) - So tonight it is recalls..But I want 'em quick ;)

Hi tohme, I think I would have to smother myself in those hot, cooked chickens you can get at the supermarket, fox poo and pond water before Lana would find me exciting :D

Hi Rozzer
I also only found ox liver, and used it for home made treats, thanks to
the recipe posted on this site, and its worked out very well, not only do my dogs love it,
but after giving some to a colleague I need to bake some more, she gave some to her dogs,
and her mom's dogs, and now they both want some more ;)
and my baking skills aren't worth writing home about, I just pour ingredients like the flour
in until I think its 120 grams or so, can't weigh the liver so I estimate based on how much I bought,
and its a hit, so the ox liver is definately fine
