Hi,

Have recently aquired a 15 month old Staffie Lurcher to keep my other Lurcher Company.
He is an x RSPCA dog and had food aggression when we got him (October 2003). Generally
speaking he is fine now, although sometimes takes to growling at my other dog when he
really wants something. However, they do fight. Davy is about 2 inches taller and much stronger
but the staffy in Luca means he is very boisterious. Generally Luca starts chasing Davy and
snapping. Ends up Davy turning back at Luca and then a barny ensues. !0 seonds later they
are happily padding around the garden again.  I was eoindering if he will grow out of this as
I adolescent. Davy was a sod when he was young. Also, how best to stop them fighting.
They are left everyday for 4/5 hours but have the run of the garden.

Starting to thnk that maybr Davy would have been happier by himself. But probabably not.

On top of this he barks alot, even with an spray collar, and is danger to himself being unphased
by anything from 8 foot drops onto concrete to to large aggressive dobermans spoiling for a fight.

Any ideas if he will carm down abit, and ways to control the aggression. So far the best I have had
is muzzle him in whihc case he would be almost permenatly in amuzzle and very miserable.
Also he will still barny with the muzzle on. The rest said never take him off the lead, which given
the greyhound in him is  a no no as he needs to run.

HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Am I reading this right - you are using a spray collar to train him not to bark in a two dog household?  If this is an Aboistop collar then it will be triggered as much by the other dog barking as by the barker and as such won't teach him anything.

When dogs fight it normally doesn't mean anything unless one of them regularly needs veterinary treatment - it often sounds horrific though.  If you feel you need to stop them fighting, then seperate them.  You can't leave him with a muzzle on when you aren't there incase he gets into trouble and needs to be released from the muzzle quickly (this could be a life saver!)
