My sister has a 4 month old mini schnauzer. She has taken it for KC training and the lady told her to take it elsewhere because it was aggressive. I went to see it at 8 weeks old and I found him to be very growly and I was nervous as he would have probably bitten me. I have two standard Schnauzers  so I am not frightened of dogs and know when they are play biting or if they are biting and growling for real. They have had the dog for two months and if you go to pick it up it really growls and goes wild. It whines a lot and seems to act like a spoilt child if you make it do something it doen't want to do. They paid a lot of money for the dog as it was apparently the best mini schnauzer you could get!!!! And what horrifies me the most is that they are thinking of using the dog as a stud which the breeder has advised Can anyone give me any advice so I can pass it on

I have a friend who experienced a similar aggression in Mini schanuzers and had previously owned them so wasn't expecting it.  She got him checked out at the vet and it turned out he had a liver shunt.  All the toxins running through his body caused the aggression.  Has your friend ruled out a medical reason?

Thanks I will let her know. Did they resolve the aggresion?

Well, sorry to say that he also started having fits and although had a succesful operation to cure the liver shunt, got pneumonia and sadly PTS.  He was also only about 4 months.  My friend said she should have known there was something wrong from the start as his behaviour was so odd.

Hope your friends dog is ok and you get to the bottom of the problem.  At least if you can rule out medical probs then you can start looking at other reasons.

Coleen,

Has your sister spoken to the breeder?  If this is a reputable breeder he or she would want to know if there is a problem with the puppy.
