My dogs love green tripe but only if i simmer it for a few minutes in a little milk, their bowels are fine and everything else looks good, should i be on the look out for any other symptoms,i know dogs dont need milk but if they enjoy it is there any harm in giving it to them?i have tried them with yoghurt but they wont touch it,does anyone else give their dogs milk?

p.s i love this site the people are friendly and there is an absolute wealth of knowledge here :D

Hi,
If your dogs like milk and it doesn't disagree with them, there's no problem! If it ain't broke, don't fix it!

I can only imagine the smell of green tripe simmering in milk :( !

Milk is only a natural food for any animal prior to weaning.  It can be difficult for some dogs as they may be lactose intolerant (the milk sugar) or unable to process the casein (milk protein).

If your dogs are fine on it I should not worry, but I find it unusual that a dog won't tuck into green tripe without anything else :D

I have always let all 3 of my dogs have some milk with no problems. Alfie who is 6 months has cornflakes and milk for breakfast and he is not keen on dried food first thing!
