Bailey was away getting his hair cut the other day and I have now noticed his eyes are really quite red and he seems to be scratching his face a lot aswell.  His skin looks quite pinkish lately but heard this is common for a westie he is fed on cesar and mixer and was thinking of changing his food maybe to nature diet would this help his skin? If its still the same on monday I will go up to the vet is there anything I can do to soothe them?

Hi Bailey,
My dog has had conjunctivitis several times, and I wiped his eyes about once an hour with a solution of boiled water and bicarbonate of soda (dissolve about half a teaspoon in a cup of water).  Or cold tea is supposed to be good, though haven't tried that with my dog.  When my cats used to have eye problems, I actually used Optrex to wipe their eyes, but if I were you I'd try the bicarb & water.  If it's a reaction to something like food, you might need eyedrops from the vet's as well though.  My dog (who has allergies) has Naturediet - I would definitely recommend it to anyone - as well as Wafcol Potato & Salmon, which is free from the things that often cause allergies.

Bailey
fucithalmic ointment will help his eyes   put it in once a day untill tube is finished .
I always found that when any of my dogs had a skin problem it was down to them being allergic to whatever kibble I was using. I cant tell if that is why your little guy is scratching but I would guess it is .
That is why I made a  decision to give raw to my dogs.
Hand on heart I have had great results from it .
It does take a few weeks for them to get used to raw as they are detoxing, and they look a bit down but that soon stops and the benefits of natural food shows up then . snow white teeth glossy coat and a sort of lean muscular look without being thin.
if you are interested type barf into google and you will get a lot of information and you at least have other options
best wishes Mari
