I was reading a book yesterday about the sensitivity of certain animals to upcoming changes in the weather. Many years ago Dr. Merryweather of Whitby noted the changes in weather affected leeches which he kept in glass tanks partially filled with water, they would react with various levels of agitation and would rise and fall in the water amongst other things. Eels, oxen, fireflies and toads it is said may also prognosticate. Has anyone noticed any changes in pug activity before it starts to rain? I have noticed on the last three occasions prior to precipitation that Piggles may become more disturbed and tends to snuffle increasingly often reaching a crecendo which is not like him, normally he will just snort gently. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Not noticed any difference in my 'Dynamic Duo' (Retrievers). Maybe your pugs are more sensitive to changes in air pressure??

Im very concerned at this user name - pigs arent ugly theyre sensitive, intelligent and beautiful in their own way and pugs are dead cute. Did some rotter tell you your dogs were ugly? Obviously hasnt the talent to appreciate the character of pugs/bulldogs/boxers/bostons/french bulldogs....What right thinking person could fail to respond to their roly poly charm?

If it is hot out my boston's tend to snort more that is due to their pushed in faces. Mind you Tiva has a real short snout where the other 3 are a little longer they don't snort at all really, but Tiva snorts all the time, more so in hot humid weather.

No Lorelei, nobody told me my pug is ugly, it's just a silly user name, also my pug is called Piggles. I too like pigs, particularly those of the Vietnamese pot bellied variety, a bit pug like really. Has anyone noticed any changes in the levels of agitation though, just before a thunderstorm. Piggles climbs up things quite alarmingly and almost 'dances' he also whistles and screeches. The first time it happened I was quite worried and it is still a bit disconcerting. Nobody else noticed this kind of reaction?

Ps. Joking about what? Do an internet search on Dr. George Merryweather's Tempest Prognosticator and see for yourself. They are even testing this at the moment at lake Windermere in the Lake District.

My grandmother owns a pug. The dog is very close to being 10 years old and I do not believe my grandma has noticed anything strange out of Candi. Candi absolutely hates the colder weather, but as far as I know, she has never been more anxious before a change in the weather. Of course, I could be wrong and my grandma just never mentions it. Could be anything, really.
