I thought I had heard and seen most of the ridiculous, cruel and thoughtless things which people put their pets through as I worked for 8 years with the RSPCA and then went on to work in various other animal homes and veterinary practices.
The cause for my disbelief is the program which is on my tv at this very moment 'Drastic Plastic'. People are not just having cosmetic surgery on themselves but now putting their unfortunate pets through it too!
A lovely sweet looking pekingnese is about to go under the knife and be castrated, but wait for it, the surgeon is then replacing the real testicals with some specially designed plastic ones - its the new fad sweeping the US. The poor dogs owner states he doesn't want his dog to miss his 'gonads' but how will the dog feel sitting on these "lumps".
What else can I say - Just hope it doesn't end up a fad in this country too! Poor dog!!

Truely you beat me to it I was just going to post about it, really believe that the guy needed to buy a porche, but it was fun to watch my hubbys face when watching the other ops (the human ones) he turned kinda green and was rocking on the couch. plus what did you think about that guy who won the $100000 bet fools and their money.

Yeh, should put their money to better use.
I couldn't believe the african guy, already well endowed and having an extension with more width too! Hey, I've seen lots of operations and am not squeemish at all (although I'm talking veterinary ops that is!) but when the surgeon was stuffing that willy I went goose-pimply and cringed quite alot. There was nothing wrong with it the way it was.
Regards.
Angela Grimes.

I dont wish to get into a debate but the reason why the dog had the implants was because they were castrating him so he would have had the op anyway and all they did was let him keep his testicles by putting inplants in so in my opinion they were being kind not cruel.
By the way (not wanting to be picky), I think it was a tibetan spaniel not a peke.

Claire,
Sorry, but there is nothing kind about putting a foreign substance in a dog's body. The dog is not going to care and there is always the potential that the falso testicals will cause problems.
Is this new? Well, unfortunately not. There have been dogs in the show ring where a missing testicle or undescended testicle was replaced with a false one so the dog could compete.
Stacey

As far as I know, a dog doesn't give two hoots whether he has testicles in his scrotum or not. After all, they adapt perfectly happily after having a leg amputated, and that's far more drastic! These 'neuticles' (or whatever they are called) are purely for the benefit if the owner, not the dog! An owner who does this either has psychological difficulties with the idea of castration, or intends to deceive judges at shows.

but surely a male dog likes to have balls to lick :D :D :D
I wouldnt know im not a dog and im not male ;)

Technically (and being pedantic) it's the scrotum he licks - and that doesn't get removed!

Lol at blondebird. You made me laugh until I cried....Now I sniggering...
It reminded me of my other half (not licking his bits) but asking the vet in a stuttery child like voice. 'Why have his bits gone black'. Vets reply was 'Wouldn't yours if you sat on them all day'

Hi, its me again.
I realised he was being castrated so the operation itself didn't upset me, its the implants which disturbed me as why would the dog need them anyway, how uncomfortable would it be if you had to sit on two hard sprouts for most of the day!
Regarding the breed I genuinely thought the dog was a peke, I'm usually pretty good on breeds, wasn't he too big for a tibetan? Does anyone else know what breed he was? Curiosity thats all, it doesnt really matter as its his testicles which were the debate not his face?

lol @ sitting on two sprouts all day ..... it would be like having piles (although I wouldnt know as ive never had them ;) ) :D :D :D
im sure it was a tibetan spaniel, they are about the same size as a peke. Maybe you are thinking of the tibetan terrier which is much bigger ? I could be wrong although im a bit of a nerd when it comes to dog breeds (I was a sad child who studied dog books instead of playing with barbie dolls .... athough I had all the barbie dogs !!! )

I too don't think a dog would care, they obviously don't get the testosterome (sp) they need from fake testies....So I would say that its more for the macho image of the owner then the dog. I read this awhile back pretty sad I think. What are they going to do next face lifts :D

I was having an off day (feeling a bit down due to ill puppy who's on a drip at the vets) until reading your post. You've made me laugh with your view on what Bradley would choose for himself. Cant stop thinking of dogs with pockets now!!

Does the dog sit on 'em all day??...... if he was sitting on his real ones he'd get a bit sore anyway....
As for the black guy, well..... thought it was the size of the fight in the dog, not the size of the dog in the fight....
Come on girls, tell us the truth, does it matter????

Nicely put Kathy M, short and to the point.
By the way please dont read to much into my sign in name - only mentioned given the content of this thread. I'm actually a girl, and my littleman is a reasonably well endowed shih tzu.
