Hi
I am asking any bulldog owners in London for a big favour.
My husband and i are looking to buy a bulldog pup and all of my kids after seeing pictures of them are really keen for one aswell. The problem i have is that they have never came face to face with a real life british bulldog. And i remember as a child being really afraid of my dad's friends bulldog.
The favour is, is anyone willing to allow my children to meet their dog? That way if they do show a real fear of the breed i wouldnt get one. I would rather do it this way than get one and then the kids be afraid and have to rehome it, which isnt fair on any dog let alone a pup.
Thanks Debbie

As part of any research you should really investigate the breed you're interested in, and it is a very good idea to have your children meet one. As part of my research i went to a few dog shows to see my chosen breed and the owners are very accomodating and could talk for England :D if your prepared to listen (and this can take hours lol).
From there you can get a few recomendations of breeders and then go from there!
When we went to choose our pup (who isn't anymore ;) ) my daughter was totally unfazed by the Great Danes however she cried her eyes out when we refused to take home the breeders pet Shih Tzu ;)

Thats a great idea, then they get to meet/see lots of different ones.
Does anyone know where i can find out about shows and where they are held ect.
Thanks Mygirl
Debbie

What about going to crufts. Im sure there will be bullies on the discover dogs stand and there will be many being showen.
They will be showing on thursday 4th March but Discover dogs is over all 4 days.

Hi again Debbie
On 28th Feb there is a Bulldog show in Luton. Let me know if you want the details, either here or by email. I can't think of any others down your way before then, but I'm sure Carolyn or someone will put me right! We will be there with one of our dogs - we will also be at crufts the following week. Going to a show is a great way of introducing the kids to dogs, it also give you the opportunity to meet other bulldog owners.
Let me know.
Corso Girl - thanks for the pm, but the address didn't work. Was it supposed to have capital letters in it?

Hi Steph
Cant find your email address. Can you send me the details of the show in Luton.
I think that crufts is in Birmingham which is a bit to far to travel with 4 screaming kids.
Thank you Debbie

Try phoning local ringcraft clubs too, my breeder ran one so if i'd have known i'd have gone there, she was also a breeder of British Bulldogs so i presume many ringcraft leaders are 'in the know' and would point you in the right direction.
I have to say though once you go to to a dog show you get rather hooked! I don't show Dolly cos she's hopeless (or rather i am but won't admit it) but the stalls!!!!
I'd been saving up just to blow my money on stalls at crufts but alas i won't be able to go! :D
So i'll put my money to Gwen's pug fund for the year 2030 ;)

My kids are afraid of alot of strange dogs, but I think if you get a bulldog pup-it will grow with them and they won't be scared of their own dog.Alot of people think bulldogs are intimidating, maybe they are,to strangers, but not their owners.I'm sure the pup and the kids will be fine together.
