Topic Dog Boards / Feeding / Brown Nose

My cocker's nose has recently turned brown from being completely black.  I  know this sounds odd but any ideas as to how I can turn it back to being black? Maybe there are certain foods I should not give her (she loves carrots).

I heard somewhere that if you feed dogs certain things it can change their colour or bring out a certain colour in their coat for example. Don't know why her nose has turned brown, but it looks strange considering it used to be black.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I agree get some Kelp (Seaweed powder) and put it on her food.  It is not unusual for dogs to have what they call "winter noses" something to do with lack of sunlight I think.

You can buy Kelp from your local health food shop.  I know Holland and Barret do kelp tablets.  You'd have to crush one and just mix it in with her food.
Funnily enough though I noticed my cockers nose is not so black at the moment either so it could be a seasonal thing.

You can buy kelp powder from dorwest herbs.  www.dorwest.co.uk  their products are especially for dogs and cats and come with dosing instructions and a measuring spoon.  I recently ordered their keepers mix (vit and min supp).  this has kelp already in it.  my cocker has this in her food every day and she loves it.
Hope this helps

This is not uncommon, often called " Winter or Snow nose".

I have a dog that hasw slight fading just now and am giving Elderberry and nettle liquid herb, from Dorwest herbs.

Lucy on the board uses another one I will see if I can see her post.

Edited to add  http://www.animal-health.co.uk  product is called Pigment plus. Lucy will let you know herself but I am sure she said it has been helping a lot.

It should darking again shortly.. it that is what is causing it.

My Alfie (Rottweiler 9 months) has got discolouration on his nose between his nostrils going vertical.  The colour is brown and we thought he had dirt on his hooter at first.  Does this sound like snow nose???????
