Hi everyone, I have a serious problem and I hop you can all help. I think me and my boyfriend are going to split but this leaves me with a 14week old puppy and nowhere to live. We were fine when i got her and as my bf works part time, his dad works early shifts and his brother doesnt work at all there was nearly always sum1 to look after pup. And when she is on her own she had another dog for company.
Now she will be on her own all day as I work full time and cant afford not too if we do split up. I will probably have to rent a flat as I have no way of affording a flat.
What am i going to do??????????????????????
Hi Guest
You could teach it to be alone at home, and perhaps find a dogsitter, to come and take her for a walk and play a bit with her.
I'm single, and have a chocolate lab bitch. She is now 9 months old. When I got her at 8½ weeks old, I started (after the first week) to be alone. I started out with only a couple of minutes, and then adding more and more time on. I went out the door, after a walk and when she was busy playing with a toy or sleeping. And then I went back inside, without saying anything to her. Try this, but remember if she is whining or barking, DON'T go back in untill she stops. Otherwise she'll quickly learn, that if she whines or barks, you come back!
Luna is now alone everyday, untill I come home from work, without any problems what so ever. You don't have to part with your puppy, just because you part from your boyfriend. It must be tuff enough to part from your boyfriend, so why loose your dog too!
You are always welcome to send me an email on my private mail. My dog is probably more alone, than any other dog on this forum, but I don't have a choice right now. And she isn't suffering, as far as I can tell.
Good luck
Jeanette
