Topic Other Boards / Foo / Trains to Crufts!!??
- By liberty Date 18.01.04 16:59 UTC
I am in the process of trying to book a train ticket to go to Crufts, and my computor and I are NOT a match made in heaven
However I now realise there are two Rail Stations (at least) at Birmingham, Birm New Street, and Birm International  I gather the International Station is closest to the NEC, but does anyone know how far Birm New Street is from the NEC, taxi time, most prob rush hour

From what I can remember, it's quite a way as it's in the centre of Birmingham and the NEC is on the edge.  I think birmingham internation is the station that takes you right to the NEC and you don't even have to go outside.

Thanks Helen :) I guess BHX New Street is out really, will try and get trains to/from Birm International.

Liberty, you need to go direct to Birmingham international. It's a breeze. It's a great way to get to crufts. Drops you off right at NEC. :)

I know lots of people that travel on the train to NEC who live in B'ham, just because it takes away the hassle (& cost) of parking & the huge walk from the car park.  :)

Thanks Snoopy1!!
I'm on the case, well sort of, now found out can't book the train tickets until 21 days prior to travelling, but Birm Int is where we'll be going !!

Hope to see you there?

Hi Liberty,
How did you find out about the 21 days before?  Just wondering, as I've been trying to book my ticket (from Prestatyn to Birmingham International), - online that is - and I get right through to the page where I put in my switch no, etc, then press continue, after which it should confirm things, but comes up page cannot be displayed.  I've tried loads of times!

My relationship with my 'puter is so fragile *grumble grumble, new fangled thingey* I phoned 'Virgin Trains', to book the tickets for me and sis-in-law, only to be told, 'it's too early, the earliest tickets can be booked is 21 days in advance'

Hi Liberty,
I guess that must be why it's not letting me book online then!  Wouldn't you think it would be able to give the message something like 'to be booked no more than 21 days prior to day of travel'!  I kept thinking there was something wrong with the website or my computer settings.  Anyway, what I'll do then is try booking again towards the middle of Feb!  Glad I found that out!

Check your dates carefully, the price keeps going up after the 'window' to book tickets opens. The earlier you book, the better/cheaper. Leave it another week, and it will cost you more

We're going for the first two days, and hope to book rail tickets on 11th Feb!!

Good Luck
