We went to see an adorable 9mth old bulldog puppy tonight , whose owners were parting with her as she did not make the grade for show , i mentioned i would to buy a dog with view to breeding from her in the future over the phone and her parter seemed okay about this , however when it was mentioned to the lady owner upon meeting her , she was quite rude , and said if that was the only reason we wanted the puppy , we were not the right people for her , and she kindly asked us to leave , all im asking is was there any need for this woman to be so rude ?  We made our intentions quite clear over the phone when talking to the gentleman , and he did not seem overly concerned about this , but the woman flipped out at us , i understand she cares very much for the puppy , but why was there any need for this ? I suspect the husband never told the wife? and why would you want to breed from a dog that hadn't made the grade?

Would guess husband just wants rind, wife wants rind to a caring pet home. If the pup was suitable for breeding it would be good enough to show. Guess the lady in this case did not want the pup to go anywhere as a brood bitch, and although I am not suggesting that is what you had in mind the fact that you were prepared to breed a less than top quality bitch would have rung alarm bells to me too. Agree she had no need to be rude but it was probable her husband that caused her displeasure not you.

Hmmm - I suppose there was no need for rudeness but I think its good she is after the pups welfare

Nahhh the woman with the bulldog didn't sound rude, as you say "she kindly asked you to leave".  It's probably more her dog than husbands which is why he wasn't bothered on the phone.  He probably didn't mention it to her and she was obviously shocked at hearing your intentions.  I think it just shows this womans cares about the standard of the breed and where her dogs end up, I'm sure its not a reflection upon your ability as an owner but she had to make a decision there and then based upon the information you gave her which was you were thinking of breeding from a bitch that didn't make the "grade" so to speak.
