Sorry to bring the subject of cleaning up again :)  My dyson is nearly 5 yrs old and has taken quite a battering.  I am looking at the Miele Cat & Dog.  Anyone got one, and if so, is it up to the job.  I've only got 2 labs but with 1 yellow and 1 black I have a lovely mixture of hair once they both start moulting.

I got a henry fo]r Xmas(I know strange present) And the only problem is with it, I have an AM cocker, and it will not pick up his hairs of the rug(and there alot of them!!!!!!!!!!) I have to use my old Electrolux(never buy one!!!!!!!!! It is horrible) upright, to get the hairs up. But Henry is great for everything else!!!!!!!!!!!
I dont have any problems with the rottie cross hair with it tho!!!!!!!!!!

Henrys are great, weve got a special turbo attachment for it so it picks all the dawg hair up.

I have a Miele Cat and Dog and have found it excellent.  Don't have as many carpets as I used to have, so doesn't get so heavily used as the Dyson did, but certainly seems better at picking up the hairs.

I did a bit of research on this and a friend did a bit of "trying out" in the shop - she took pieces of carpet totally covered in cat/dog/human hairs to the shop and insisted on hoovering it.  Apparently the Miele cat and dog won hands down.  Not cheap though, but she did say the Dyson didn't perform well.  What's the answer?  Another friend has no carpets but has to sweep.  That's got to be 10 times worse!!

Actually the Miele Cat and Dogs was the one we threw out when we got out Dyson. I would not swap back!

Best wishes, John

Lol - well I suppose people have different types of carpet and stuff, I have a friends cast off hoover and it hoovers and not much else.  I was looking at the Miele but I think personally a lot of its a marketing bash, trying to sell an ordinary vacuum (spelling?) at twice the price to us gullible pet owners.  If you come to my house ever, prepare for pet hairs!! :D

Agree with you on that one!  I got the DCO7 a few months ago and it's amazing!  It picks up after 5 dogs, 3 of which are Shepherds, so it must be good!!

I do think Miele have a good record.  I don't think it's particularly marketing 'hash'.  So many homes have pets, so surely it makes sense to look for a vacuum cleaner that can deal with the resultant hair.  The Miele has a very powerful motor.  We paid extra for a Miele dishwasher and it's the best one we've ever owned.  Quiet and reliable.  It's already out lasted the previous Hotpoint one.  I like my Dyson, but its a bit bulky for up and down stairs, and not so good on the hard surfaces.  I found the Miele for £159 on the Empire Direct website.  I think we paid over £200 for the Dyson.
